The Teen Cuisine program is a six-lesson curriculum designed to teach youth in grades 6-12 important life skills for promoting optimal health. It is taught in a school setting by a Nutrition Education Assistant (NEA) and aims to empower teens to adopt healthier lifestyles. The curriculum focuses on teaching the knowledge and skills needed to prepare nutritious snacks and meals at home.
 
The program covers key concepts including:
  • Nutrition
  • Food preparation and cooking
  • Food safety practices
  • How to improve physical activity 
Research has shown that when youth are involved in preparing meals, they are more likely to eat more nutrient-rich foods. Each lesson includes hands-on cooking experiences and activities. A workbook with healthy recipes is provided to participants.
