Wings of the Wind: Exploring Lift in Windmill Design

Primary tabs

Program Type:

STEM/STEAM

Age Group:

Program Description

Event Details

In this project, children will explore the power of wind by designing and building windmills that can lift a cup filled with different weights. Rather than just spinning, their windmills will perform real mechanical work—demonstrating how wind energy can lift and move objects.

Along the way, students will learn key concepts in physics and engineering, including force, motion, torque, energy transfer, and simple machines. They'll test and refine blade designs to maximize lifting power, gaining hands-on experience with renewable energy in a fun and creative way.
